Understanding our ‘Password’ Symbol

With security at the forefront of end users’ minds and a driving force behind most new electric gate installs, ensuring our products guarantee the highest level of security is a priority.

The ‘Password’ symbol was created specifically to represent our control panels that allow for a unique protection code to be added.

This additional function allows the installer the option to set a unique four-digit security code, which then works to lock the control unit programming, preventing unwanted access to the menus and blocking any future modifications to the settings and parameters.

Once the protection code has been set, this should be stored safely and only shared with the necessary contacts for scheduled maintenance.

If you would like more detail on how to add a protection code, you can find the simple instructions here.

Get to know our BRAINY24.T control panel in more detail.

BRAINY24.T has been in circulation since 2018 but is now the staple panel for all 24v kits where the panel is not incorporated into the motor.

Whilst the panel has had new features within the EPROM software, the biggest change is within the hardware of the panel, importantly the transformer. The BRAINY24.T now has a switching transformer and these type of power supplies are used to achieve high efficiency and small physical size. The switching transformer is named as such because it incorporates a switching regulator to convert electrical power efficiently.

From an incoming supply range of 100 to 250 Vac the switching transformer provides a regulated and smooth DC current to the board through a process called pulse width modulation (PVM). Not only does the transformer handle the incoming power better, but it is also a separate PCB to the actual control panel to help prevent power loss and any potential damages to the control panel through short circuits. In addition, and probably its most notable upgrade, is that the switching transformer has a built-in battery backup option. There is no need to purchase an additional charger card and wire the component as before, you simply add 2 x 12vdc batteries to the new transformer which will automatically become the power source in the event of a mains power supply failure.

Battery back-up can be crucial to some installations as a means of keeping the access open and usable during a power cut. After all, nobody old or young, big or small, wants to climb the gates to open them if you return home during a power cut, not to mention the requirement for access for the emergency services at this time too!
