Hardwood Gate
The end user’s requirements focused on elegance, privacy, and convenience, and a handmade hardwood Iroko sliding gate was the perfect solution. Expert craftsmanship, employing traditional joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon joints, ensures maximum strength and longevity for the gate. Additionally, the design was tailored to the specific automation needs, with a 100 x 50mm box section incorporated into the bottom framework to accommodate the Hi Motions sliding gate wheels for the tracked sliding gate mechanism.
Upon completion, the gate was treated with Osmo oil. This oil deeply penetrates the dense grain of Iroko, nourishing the wood and maintaining its natural oils and structural integrity. The oil also adds water resistance and UV protection, preserving the wood’s rich, warm colour over time—providing the perfect finishing touch to an already outstanding installation.
Automation
The gate is precisely level, as required for a tracked sliding system. A 152mm x 152mm RSJ steel beam runs along the entrance and gate runback, embedded within the foundations to ensure maximum structural rigidity without compromising on level alignment. This steel beam also provides a secure connection for the sliding gate motor, ensuring the motor is installed at the correct height and level to align perfectly with the drive rack on the gate.
To complement the elegance of the gate, the BULL1224 TURBO motor was selected for its speed and smooth gate movement. Additionally, a nylon rack was installed to minimize noise, further enhancing the quality of the overall installation.
The automation is integrated with an existing Control 4 DS2, a premium home automation system that offers the homeowners cutting-edge technology.
