Securing Industrial Estates: Why the EVA Road Barrier is Our Go-To Solution

We discuss the Beninca EVA Road Barrier with SMP Gate Automations

Introduction

We recently caught up with Stuart, the Director at SMP Gate Automations, to discuss the popular Benincà EVA barrier range. The EVA barrier has become a staple in their installations, frequently showcased across their social channels. The EVA barrier, available in models EVA.5, EVA.7, and EVA.8, offers versatile and reliable access control solutions for various settings.

Latest Installation: EVA.7 Barrier in North Bedfordshire

Stuart detailed their latest project, where they installed the EVA.7 barrier at a busy rural industrial estate in North Bedfordshire. “For this project, we selected the EVA.7 barrier with a 7-meter boom. It’s a compact yet robust solution suitable for any entrance,” Stuart explained. “As you may spot from the installation images, the site entrance wasn’t 7 metres wide,  I made the conscious decision to cut down the boom to 5m, as I personally would rather have the capacity of the EVA.7 over the EVA.5 in case the client wishes to relocate the barrier and needs a wider boom in the future.”

The client required a reliable and user-friendly barrier to secure their commercial premises, allowing access through remote fobs for select individuals and a coded keypad for general entry. To ensure safety, two sets of photocell sensors and an underground vehicle loop were installed to prevent the barrier from lowering onto vehicles.

Why Choose the EVA Road Barrier?

SMP Gate Automations has installed the EVA barrier at numerous sites. When asked why they prefer this barrier over others, Stuart highlighted several key features:

  1. The EVA barrier is designed for intensive use, featuring a 24 Vdc motor and an absolute encoder that ensures precise control of the barrier arm.
  2. It includes a control unit with an integrated receiver, built-in battery charger, and external release.
  3. The system also features an integrated STC (Safe Torque Control) System for accurate torque management, and the installation process is straightforward.

Advice for other companies

Stuart confidently recommends the EVA barrier for access control needs, citing its ease of installation and high build quality. “The EVA barrier is incredibly reliable; we never have any issues with it and that’s why it’s our go-to choice,” he said. Designed for continuous use, these barriers effectively manage traffic at the entrances of parking facilities and commercial properties, making them a top choice for companies seeking durable and efficient access control solutions.
