Stunning swing gate installation in Bedfordshire, by SMP Gate Automations
Overview
SMP Gate Automations, have built an exceptional reputation for providing tailored automation and access control solutions. From domestic to commercial projects, their expertise spans residential gates through to much larger commercial sites, installing traffic barriers.
This particular project entailed replacing their client’s existing two 3.5 metre softwood 5-bar gates with a close slat aluminium electric gate, equipped with remote access capabilities. With an entrance spanning nearly 8 meters, this installation presented unique challenges. SMP Gate Automations proposed a strategic solution, incorporating a pedestrian gate to optimise functionality while ensuring structural integrity. By opting for robust 200mm steel posts, they not only addressed the width concerns but also reinforced the gates for long-term durability. SMP Gate Automations proposed the client upgrade to have 2 x 3 metre gate leaves, allowing 2 vehicles to comfortably pass, with a pedestrian gate filling the remaining space.
Challenges
When discussing this swing gate installation with Stuart Pond from SMP Gate Automations he confirmed, ‘The drive dropped away by 90mm so the equivalent lift was fabricated into the gate. The gates also open outwards so a vehicle loop was dug in on the outside of the property to stop the gates from opening onto a vehicle, as it was not possible to install a second set of photocells.’
Through innovative design and careful product selection, SMP Gate Automations successfully mitigated these obstacles.
Automation
SMP Gate Automations carefully selected automation components tailored to the large scale of the gate leaves. They opted for the Benincà DU.350NGE heavy-duty underground gate motors, designed to effortlessly power gate leaves of up to 4 meters. Featuring oil-submerged gearing and a built-in encoder, these motors ensure optimal safety and precision during gate operation. Renowned for their unmatched product quality and reliability, the Benincà DU.350NGE motors were the ideal choice for this project.
In addition to automation, SMP Gate Automations implemented advanced access control measures. They installed the sleek Commtel Optimus E1K GSM intercom system, providing seamless communication and security features. Furthermore, the pedestrian gate was secured with the modern Locinox mag lock and self-closing Locinox Tiger hinges, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.
Summary
Congratulations to SMP Gate Automations for this striking electric gate installation, we are delighted to award you with our Proper Job Award for your incredible work. It’s not surprising to hear SMP Gate Automations received incredibly positive feedback from their customer.
With Stuart Pond from SMP Gate Automations stating “I don’t think the customer realised how big this install would be and are thrilled at how it matches perfectly with the property. Our client simply loves being able to open the gates from their car rather than getting out and wet through every time!”
